- ➤ Fresh Step is a mobile laundry service for homeless people started by retired police officer Wade Milyard, using a bus called (Lucy) that began service in September 2025 behind On Our Own at 121 South Market Street and at Moose Lodge on Wednesdays. WFMD

- ➤ The Brunswick Branch Library held its third annual Children's Museum at the Library event on Saturday where a few dozen children and their parents stayed dry (and entertained) during a winter rainstorm. Frederick News-Post
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Frederick County is studying its five in‑person and one virtual senior center to meet the needs of its growing older adult population. Public input will be gathered during sessions from Jan. 20 to 23 at local centers and online, with the study expected to finish by spring. WFMD
- ➤ Frederick County officials are considering animal control changes that would broaden the dangerous dog definition, require leashes, and introduce a lifetime pet license. The proposals aim to set clearer guidelines for pet owners. Frederick News-Post
- ➤ Frederick County Council President Brad Young warned that solar fields permanently remove topsoil and leave farmland unrecoverable as farmers increasingly accept high offers to install them.
