CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Frederick Police warned residents about a toll scam that sent text messages saying they owed tolls and needed to pay immediately—authorities urged not to click on any links or give personal information. WFMD
- ➤ Former pediatrician Ernesto Torres is on trial for four counts of sexually abusing a young patient and over 100 extra charges, with four witnesses having testified—his trial will resume today at 9:00 a.m. in Circuit Court. WFMD
- ➤ Cheryl Leigh Gray, 50, was sentenced on March 17th in Frederick County Circuit Court for felony theft—she received a five-year incarceration term with only 60 days unsuspended, five years of probation and an order to pay $65,000 in restitution. WFMD

- ➤ A documentary film called 'Lefty: The Greatest of all Time' will premiere in Frederick — Lefty's hometown — and a bronze fisherman statue by local sculptor Toby Mendez stands at Culler Lake in Baker Park as a tribute to the town's heritage. Frederick News-Post
