ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Frederick County posted new job listings on March 24 for positions in shipping, agriculture, document support, bookkeeping, software development, tech sales, production management, and community outreach. Applicants must email resumes or call designated offices, with some roles requiring materials (by April 1). WFMD
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Debbie Ricker was named permanent president at Hood College after serving as interim leader—she made each decision with the next leader in mind—and she will work at full throttle on college initiatives. Frederick News-Post
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, the Frederick County Division of Animal Control held a groundbreaking at 1832 Rosemont Avenue to begin a renovation that will expand the shelter and office space from 12,660 to about 20,620 square feet — an increase of over 60 percent. During construction, which will be completed in the fall, animal adoptions and essential services will continue while tours and educational programs are paused. Frederick County
- ➤ Frederick County Government posted an announcement on March 24 asking residents to share feedback on its communication efforts. The feedback will be used to shape future plans for public outreach (in English and Spanish) and guide improvements (to better connect with residents). Frederick County
- ➤ Frederick County Senator Bill Folden attacked the new budget plan from Gov. Moore, Speaker Adrienne Jones and Senate President Bill Ferguson—saying it creates more fees and burdens on everyday residents and small business owners. The Maryland General Assembly must vote on a balanced budget by April 7th before it adjourns sine die. WFMD
