CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Deputies responded to a shots-fired incident on Tuesday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. at the 5200 block of Black Locust Drive in Ballenger Creek where they found evidence of a discharged firearm, questioned several individuals who knew each other, released them without charges, and identified no victims. - ➤ Frederick County deputies investigated vehicle thefts and tampering in the Mount Airy, Green Valley and Monrovia areas after a stolen Nissan Altima was reported on March 23rd at Quiet Stream Court, and one juvenile suspect was apprehended to face charges through the Department of Juvenile Services. - ➤ At a meeting on Monday in Rosemont, local officials chose the candidates who will run unopposed for burgess and commission seats in May's election—leaving voters with no contested races. Frederick News-Post
- ➤ The Frederick County Office of Agriculture released its new strategic plan on Tuesday—local farmers gathered at the event to build relationships and plan future steps. Frederick News-Post
- ➤ Conservationists, trade unionists, and tech industry insiders have weighed in on a new bill that will decide how much data centers, already established in Frederick County, will grow—lawmakers will review its provisions soon. Frederick News-Post
- ➤ Frederick Mayor Michael O’Connor supports a bill that would let municipal employees form a collective bargaining unit to negotiate salaries and benefits—he said this change would give workers rights similar to those of police officers. The City Council has tabled the measure until its language is updated, and if passed it will allow informational pickets while prohibiting strikes. WFMD
