  • Frederick County Public Schools named four finalists for its Teacher of the Year award. Officials said the finalists were chosen from staff and parent nominations.  Frederick News-Post

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Ben Sayler’s farm just outside Walkersville is using county grants to launch sustainability projects that will modernize its operations (the plans are set to roll out soon).  Frederick News-Post
  • Frederick Presbyterian Church earned its Earth Care Congregation certification for the second consecutive year from the Presbyterian Church (USA)'s Presbyterian Hunger Program, showing its ongoing care for the earth.  Frederick News-Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A bill requiring public comment at Frederick Community College meetings passed unanimously in both state legislative chambers despite objections from some lawmakers. The measure will move forward & may change how the college conducts its meetings.  Frederick News-Post
  • Representatives of the Washington Freedom cricket team presented a revised plan to Frederick City Council today, proposing a cricket facility with a reduced capacity of 10,000 instead of 25,000. The change is aimed at better matching the facility to local needs.  Frederick News-Post

  • A local developer plans to build four warehouses up to 235,000 sqft next to Frederick Municipal Airport — project details are still pending review.  Frederick News-Post
