- ➤ The United Way of Frederick County announced that its annual Unity Campaign raised more than $681,000 from about 1,300 donors in March to support local nonprofits — the highest total in its history. Frederick News-Post
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Frederick Police arrested Silver Spring man Tevis Denver Findlater, 27, on April 1 after officers responded to a disturbance at the 900 block of West Patrick Street—officials say a woman suffered extensive bruises and other injuries during the incident and Findlater faces charges including 1st-degree assault, 2nd-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and drug offenses after 30 grams of a white powder were found on his person. - ➤ Frederick County Public Libraries will welcome NYT tech reporter Kashmir Hill (an AI skeptic) for a special lecture at the Weinberg Center for the Arts at 7 p.m. on April 8 to discuss the intersection between technology and artificial intelligence. Frederick News-Post
- ➤ The Frederick County Fire & Rescue Museum at 300B South Seton Ave in Emmitsburg will open for the 2025 season on Saturday, April 5 and welcome visitors to view exhibits on local fire and rescue history. Frederick News-Post

- ➤ Frederick’s Division of Public Works announced that on April 15 new stop signs will be installed at the east intersection of Corporate Drive, Bentley Way, and Brandford Lane so that vehicles from all directions must stop. The change will address pedestrian conflicts (only Bentley Way and Brandford Lane currently require stops) and improve safety for school children crossing nearby. Frederick County
- ➤ Mayor O'Connor submitted his proposed Fiscal Year 2026 budget for Frederick on April 1, outlining spending priorities — the proposal will now be reviewed by City Council for next steps. City of Frederick
