CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 17-year-old Frederick teen is facing charges after allegedly pointing a gun at a driver on I-270 in Montgomery County on March 31 — troopers recovered a loaded handgun during his arrest and charged him as an adult with felony assault and other weapons offenses. DC News Now
- ➤ A 17-year-old from Frederick was arrested on March 31 for pulling a loaded gun at a driver during a road rage incident on I-270 near Falls Road in Rockville — he now faces felony assault, use of a firearm in a felony, and several weapons charges while being held without bond. Daily Voice
- ➤ A 17-year-old from Frederick was charged after he allegedly pointed a gun at another motorist on I-270 near Falls Road on March 31st (a loaded handgun was confiscated) and he faces felony assault and firearm charges while being held at a secure juvenile facility. WFMD
- ➤ Frederick Police said that on March 31, officers responded to a disturbance on West Patrick Street where they found suspect Tevis Denver Findlater with a woman injured by repeated assault that broke her back—he was arrested with about 30 grams of suspected cocaine and now faces charges for first-degree and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and drug offenses. - ➤ The Frederick County Sustainability Commission is now accepting nominations for its annual Sustainability Awards until June 30 — the awards honor local efforts to protect our environment. Winners will be announced in fall and the awards will recognize individuals, students, businesses and groups that work to create a greener future. Frederick County
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The County Council is reviewing a resolution that would let JLG Industries expand into Frederick by using a $500,000 state loan and a $50,000 county match from the economic opportunity fund—retrofitting 113,000 square feet on Progress Drive. JLG expects to create 100 full time jobs by December 31 as part of the expansion, and the council will vote on the proposal later. WFMD
- ➤ Frederick County State's Attorney Charlie Smith will host the 35th Maryland Statewide Memorial Service for violent crime victims on Sunday, April 6th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Frederick Seventh Day Adventist Church — the celebration will honor victims and families from the Western Region and include a proclamation from the Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention and Policy. - ➤ Starting April 14, the Frederick County Department of Highway Operations will close Yeagertown Road daily from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to stabilize the embankment — the road will remain closed for about two weeks — with a signed detour in place. Frederick County
