ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Keith Rhew, a local tow operator, died on Friday, April 3 from a work accident and is survived by his wife Erica and children Luke and Olivia — a fundraiser has raised over $28,000 for his funeral, set for Friday, April 10 at Bel Air Church of the Nazarene.  Daily Voice

  • The Frederick County Fire & Rescue Museum will open for its 2026 season at noon April 11 & is located just north of the National Fire Academy at 300B S.  Frederick News-Post
  • Rae Boyd advanced from the Top 14 to the Top 12 on American Idol on Monday night when fans gathered at JoJo's Restaurant & Tap House to show their support.  Frederick News-Post

  • Sara Kidd (the new UM Extension agriculture agent) plans to help local farmers overcome challenges by connecting them with research and education resources. Her work will begin immediately in Frederick County.  Frederick News-Post

HEALTH NEWS

  • AAA reminds drivers to stay focused this month (Distracted Driving Awareness Month) after 46% of Maryland crashes in 2023 involved distraction. The agency advises drivers in Frederick to put away phones and avoid eating while driving to prevent delays in reaction time.  WFMD
  • Wawa recalled four 16-ounce iced drinks on April 3 after an equipment issue risked contaminating them with a milk allergen, prompting removal of the products from select stores in MD, PA, DE, NJ, and VA (no illnesses have been reported) and offering refunds as gift cards.  Daily Voice
  • Medical experts warn that persistent, unexplained right shoulder pain could be a signal of liver cancer. Frederick residents with a history of liver disease should seek prompt medical care if the pain persists.  WFMD
