- ➤ City of Frederick’s HPC will host its 6th Annual Digging Local event on April 28th at 7 p.m.—a free exchange event for residents to trade and donate items. The event—open to all community members—offers an opportunity to find useful goods while reducing waste. City of Frederick
- ➤ Sarah Hofman established the Jeremy Magers Memorial Baseball and Softball Fund in memory of her fiance — the fund provided grants to support youth baseball and softball programs in Frederick County. Frederick News-Post
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A DC man—31 year old Dhevon Gaither—was arrested on April 4 in Largo for his alleged role in a January 19 home invasion robbery at a home on the 5600 block of Doubs Road, and he faces charges including robbery, burglary, and home invasion. DC News Now
- ➤ Detectives responded to a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at a home on April 10 and arrested 19-year-old Maxwell Forquer on 19 counts of possession of child pornography while 52-year-old Jessica Turner was taken into custody after she struck a deputy. Daily Voice
- ➤ A Frederick man, Raphael Mayorga, was found guilty in Montgomery County for a 2023 high-speed chase that hit Sgt. Patrick Kepp — who lost both legs — and his sentencing is set for Aug. 27 where he may face up to 28 years and 120 days in prison. DC News Now

- ➤ FCPS is asking community members to submit name suggestions for Elementary School #41 (a new school being built near Md. 144 and Mussetter Road). The contest will help decide the school's name (public input is encouraged). Frederick News-Post
- ➤ Frederick County Retired School Personnel awarded Walkersville High School teacher Ryan Kint a $500 grant — his project uses laser engraving to improve engineering and wood design for his students. Frederick News-Post
