CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Local authorities are investigating an incident involving Brunswick High School boys lacrosse players — the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and Public Schools are reviewing the matter as the school remains open and athletic events continue. WFMD
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The final touches are being made on the former William Donald Schaefer Building in downtown Frederick that is being converted into a new police headquarters (100 East All Saints Street). Police Chief Jason Lando said the project is on budget and will open with a public open house once the required technology arrives. WFMD
- ➤ The Frederick County Division of Water and Sewer Utilities (DWSU) released the annual drinking water quality report for 2024, which shows that drinking water from all 13 water systems met or exceeded state and federal standards and is available online. The report also adds sections on PFAS testing (commonly known as forever chemicals) and on service line inventory and unregulated contaminant monitoring. Frederick County
- ➤ Frederick County Council approved a salary increase on Tuesday for council members and the county executive who will be elected in 2026—raising pay for future officials. Frederick News-Post
