CRIME NEWS

  • Deputies pulled over a speeding BMW on Route 15 early Friday morning and found nearly one kilogram of suspected heroin and 519 grams of suspected crack cocaine + $3,818, leading to the arrest of 46-year-old Xerxus Rashad Belvin from North Carolina, who is now held without bond.  WFMD
  • A speeding BMW led to a drug bust in Frederick when deputies pulled over Xerxus Rashad Belvin, 46, just after 1:20 a.m. on April 25 and noticed a taped object under the seat—officers then found nearly one kilogram of heroin, more than 500 grams of crack cocaine, and $3,818 in cash—Belvin now faces multiple charges.  Daily Voice

  • On April 25, a Walk Through History event at Carroll Creek Linear Park showed how Frederick played a vital role in the American Revolution. The opening ceremony began at noon with Mayor Michael O’Connor and Ysela Bravo (from the County Executive’s Office) and featured a performance by the Butterfly Ridge Elementary School chorus at a free public fair.  WFMD

  • Frederick County is asking residents to complete an online survey to share their views on child care needs for children birth to 12. The survey—available in several languages including Spanish—is part of a study by Family Services and Parks and Recreation to expand accessible child care services.  Frederick County
