- ➤ Frederick County deputies searched for a Hispanic man in his 20s after he attempted to break into a home on Mountaindale Road on May 8 + the suspect broke a window and fled on foot when a resident called 911. WFMD
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Frederick County Board of Education reduced the school district's budget gap for the next fiscal year from $21.1 million to $6.8 million on Wednesday — officials believe this step will help balance spending. Frederick News-Post
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Frederick County was named Maryland’s first Bird County by the Maryland Bird Conservation Partnership during Earth Week 2025—recognizing its work in ecosystem restoration, environmental education, and habitat protection. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A vigil to remember loved ones who died from overdoses will be held on August 27th at 7:00 PM at the JBK Theater at Frederick Community College—organized by the Frederick County Health Department. Residents can submit names until July 18th while officials note that even though fatal overdoses have declined, changes in the drug supply call for continued education and access to life-saving tools.
