ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A house at 15300 Sabillasville Rd was heavily damaged by a fire on May 10th, 2025 — no one was hurt as firefighters worked to control the blaze after it was reported by a deputy. WFMD
- ➤ A fallen tree landed on utility lines along Route 77 near Tippin Drive and Catoctin Hollow Road in Thurmont around 11 a.m.—officials closed the road in both directions before reopening it soon after. DC News Now
- ➤ Frederick County man Cian Cassidy, 21, was struck by MARC Brunswick Line Train 872 at about 4:45 p.m. on May 6 near Keep Tryst Road and died instantly—his family has raised over $22,000 via GoFundMe to help cover his funeral costs. Daily Voice
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Monday night, police, fire and rescue units responded to an officer-involved shooting on the 300 block of North Market Street near the Old Town Tavern—officials said the victim was shot twice and medivaced while the area between 3rd and 4th Streets was closed as the investigation continued. - ➤ On Monday night, a deputy responded on North Market Street near the Old Town Tavern when an individual experiencing a mental-health crisis approached with a knife and refused commands to drop it, prompting the officer to fire one shot; the person was treated at the scene and flown to a trauma center in stable condition.
