ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ First responders continued their search on Thursday for a missing kayaker who entered the Monocacy River — between Devilbiss Bridge Road and Woodsboro Creagerstown Road — on Wednesday in Frederick County. Frederick News-Post
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Frederick County Sheriff’s Deputy Corporal Morton shot Cody Berg, who had a knife, in the parking lot next to Old Towne Tavern on Monday evening and will not face charges—administrative review may follow. WFMD
- ➤ Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins said he supports Corporal Gregory Morton's actions on Monday night when he shot a man with a knife in the 300 block of North Market Street near the Old Towne Tavern after ordering him to drop the weapon—state prosecutors later confirmed the use of force was necessary and no charges will be filed even as Morton remains on administrative leave. - ➤ A parent said that students at Oakdale Middle School saw explicit sexual content on their Chromebooks while using a video chat website+ the district later blocked the site. Frederick News-Post
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Moderate flooding affected the Potomac River at Point of Rocks after the river crested yesterday at 23.6 feet, well above the 16.0-foot flood stage; floodwaters reached the boat ramp and towpath and officials warned against driving through flooded areas. The National Weather Service extended the Flood Warning through this evening and expects river levels to drop below flood stage by today afternoon — residents are urged to follow safety advisories.
