CRIME NEWS

  • A 24-year-old man from West Virginia was arrested on May 22 for involuntary manslaughter after he caused a two-car crash on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway just after 1:40 a.m. on April 18—this crash killed two children from a family headed to South Carolina and injured others.  Daily Voice
  • Dr. Syed Haque, 64, from Frederick was released on a $10,000 secured bond for each of two sexual assault cases—he was arrested in February after allegations he faked a breast exam during bogus appointments, and a third case is set for trial in November.  Daily Voice

  • Frederick officials announced the closure of Rockwell Terrace — drivers are advised to use alternate routes until the road reopens.  City of Frederick
  • Representative April McClain Delaney urged full FEMA funding after flooding in Allegany County damaged a fire hall, public library, and local schools—forcing evacuations of students and staff. Lawmakers are reviewing proposals to make FEMA an independent agency and extend disaster aid as severe weather continues to affect communities.  WFMD
