CRIME NEWS

  • Andrew Ramirez, a 42-year-old massage therapist from Jefferson, was arrested on charges of first- and second-degree sexual abuse after allegedly assaulting a client during a spa session at the Salamander Hotel in Washington, D.C.—he faces a status hearing on July 11.  Daily Voice

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Wednesday the Frederick County Board of Education cut the school district's budget gap from $6.8 million to $2.4 million by approving spending cuts—steps that will guide funding for the coming fiscal year—official sources said.  Frederick News-Post

  • Former Mayor Ron Young was celebrated at the launch party for a proposed statue at The Delaplaine Arts Center on Thursday—many leading Frederick political figures attended the event.  Frederick News-Post
