  • Beth Sholom Congregation will host its Jewish Pride programming throughout June—marking its second consecutive year of events that celebrate the local community.  Frederick News-Post

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A vehicle crash on Route 40 West at Bowers Road in Frederick on May 29 led fire and rescue crews to extricate two trapped people from two vehicles—one was flown by helicopter to Shock Trauma while the other was taken to Meritus Medical Center.  WFMD

EDUCATION NEWS

  • After several months of discussion, the Frederick County Board of Education approved a districtwide cellphone policy for students by a split vote—this new set of rules will guide when and where students may use cellphones.  Frederick News-Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Frederick County Government will host the Heritage Festival on June 6 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hill Street Park, where the 'We Belong' themed event will offer live music, dancing, performances, food and complimentary Kona Ice from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.—if it rains, the festival will move to June 13 at the same location and times.  Frederick County
  • Representative April McClain Delaney received a briefing from local and state emergency management officials on Thursday about heavy flash flooding in Western Maryland that damaged water systems, bridges, and power lines; she said repair bills may hit $78 million or more — local governments cannot cover the costs and residents in Allegany and Garrett Counties are urged to seek federal aid.  WFMD
