  • Woodsboro Bank announced that it will name its new CEO at the beginning of July as current bank president Rich Ohnmacht takes on dual roles—he will lead the bank into its next phase.  Frederick News-Post

CRIME NEWS

  • A Thurmont man, John Cintron, 34, was charged on Monday after police found explosive devices on Locust Drive and searched his home—he faces three counts of manufacturing or possessing a destructive device and five counts of reckless endangerment and is held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center without bond.  DC News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Some Frederick City Council members want to cut about $3M from the fiscal 2026 budget — a move meant to offset a recent tax rate drop — while the mayor disagrees with the proposed cut.  Frederick News-Post
  • The Frederick City Council will consider a plan to use almost half of an estimated $1 million in rental license revenue (unused to date) to fund a home repair program and emergency rental assistance.  Frederick News-Post

HEALTH NEWS

  • Federal food safety officials issued a recall for Organic Rancher organic ground beef after tests showed it may be contaminated with E. coli—consumers in Maryland and other states should check their refrigerators and freezers for 1-pound packages with Use or Freeze By dates of June 19 and June 20 and dispose of or return the product.  Daily Voice
  • Cheryl Cioffi, the incoming Frederick Health CEO, will begin her job soon and aims to grow the hospital — she plans to retain staff as she steps into the role — after a journey that started in high school without a thought of a health care career.  Frederick News-Post
