- ➤ A second grade student from Oakdale Elementary School won the Third Grade and Under Maryland State Scholastic Chess Championship—an achievement that shows strong skill in competitive chess. Frederick News-Post
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ James and Karen Baker created The Jake Baker 27 Fund in memory of their son who died by suicide in spring 2024 — the fund will support initiatives to raise awareness about mental health and prevent future tragedies. The Bakers hope the fund will help guide local efforts in mental health support. Frederick News-Post
- ➤ Johnson Health Tech Trading announced a recall for about 3,844,200 BowFlex adjustable dumbbells after more than 100 people reported injuries such as head trauma and broken bones arising from weight plates dislodging—customers are advised to stop using the devices and can receive a refund or replacement voucher.
