  • WFMD honored three local first responders on July 4 as part of its Salute to our Hometown Heroes — the awards recognized their dedicated service in our community.  Frederick News-Post
  • The Community Foundation of Frederick County awarded over $513,000 through its Impact Grant program to support local projects + initiatives that aim to improve community life. The grants will fund efforts to better neighborhood services and facilities.  Frederick News-Post

  • A new Penny Mart opens today on South Market Street, giving downtown residents+visitors another spot to buy food and drinks. The convenience store will serve a range of daily essentials in the busy downtown area.  Frederick News-Post

CRIME NEWS

  • A teen was arrested for robbing a home in Adamstown where he reportedly used a knife—he also assaulted a man.  Frederick News-Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The city of Frederick is weighing a proposal to build a cricket stadium for up to 25K fans on land at the county boundary — the plan could bring major events while neighbors have raised questions about its impact.  Frederick News-Post

HEALTH NEWS

  • Frederick County’s Spanish-language stroke awareness campaign earned two national awards that recognize its work to boost stroke awareness among residents. The awards highlight how the campaign is helping people understand stroke symptoms and when to seek care.  Frederick News-Post
  • At a June 29 clinic, the Frederick County Health Department vaccinated 200 dogs and cats against rabies—an effort aimed at protecting pet health and lowering the risk of disease in the community.  Frederick News-Post
