COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A local scout in Emmitsburg is maintaining fire hydrants to ensure water is available for emergency services. The work is part of a volunteer program aimed at increasing town safety - a clear example of community service.  Frederick News-Post
  • Frederick County Division of Aging and Independence is partnering with AARP to offer safe driving classes that teach updated road rules, safe driving strategies, and how to manage age-related changes at Brunswick on July 23, Middletown on July 24, and Frederick on July 25—with additional sessions in September. A free 'We Need to Talk' seminar about driving retirement and transit options will be held on July 24 at Frederick Senior Center—participants should RSVP or call to register.  Frederick County

CRIME NEWS

  • On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, a Frederick County Sheriff's deputy stopped a vehicle on Route 340 near Route 180 for an equipment violation and called a K9 unit—leading to the recovery of over 13 ounces of suspected cocaine and the arrest of driver Donta Shawn Allen.  WFMD

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Between April 1st and June 30th, 2025, the Frederick County Liquor Board checked 59 businesses that sell alcohol and found 52 refused sales while 7 sold to underage buyers—part of a county effort to reduce youth access to alcohol and tobacco. The checks used underage customers with state IDs and plainclothes police to verify compliance.  WFMD
