- ➤ On Saturday, hundreds of locals visited the Frederick Fairgrounds reptile show to see snakes, lizards, and other reptiles. Organizers said the event showcased up-close encounters with creatures whose scales ranged from rough to smooth—sparking interest in reptile care and ownership. Frederick News-Post
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Frederick County Public Schools confirmed that a student was secluded at Blue Heron Elementary in March despite a ban on the practice. The investigation found the seclusion occurred inadvertently and the district is reviewing its procedures. Frederick News-Post
- ➤ On Tuesday, a workshop helped local parents and caregivers learn about teen feelings and the changes of growing up. They shared personal stories and built support around this important stage in life — a time that many find confusing. Frederick News-Post
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Pura Scents recalled 851,400 Pura 4 Smart Home Fragrance Diffusers after reports that five magnets in the detachable cover can come loose and be swallowed, which may lead to intestinal blockages, infections, or even death. The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued the recall on July 24 and it covers diffusers sold from August 2023 to May 2025 — customers should remove the cover and request a free replacement immediately.
