BUSINESS NEWS

  • X-Energy, a Rockville-based firm, will expand north on the I-270 corridor with $2M in state financing from Governor Wes Moore and the state commerce department—this venture is set to bring more than 500 new high-tech jobs to western Maryland by the end of the decade.  DC News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • A Frederick man pleaded guilty on Tuesday to one count each of firearms trafficking and unlawful possession of a machine gun — charges tied to federal investigations — the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Maryland said.  Frederick News-Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Former Mayor Jennifer Dougherty, now running for City Council, criticized current city officials for mistakes that she said affect Frederick’s progress during a podcast with The Frederick News-Post.   • Fall field registration has reopened for booking sports fields from August 1 to November 30; Parks Administrative Assistant Joelle Dent is managing the process. Applicants must include a Certificate of Insurance + a list of organization contacts, though filing an application with a deposit does not guarantee approval.  City of Frederick
