CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Bestselling novelist Marjan Kamali will visit Frederick for a conversation with local writer Curious Iguana at 6:30 p.m. on August 13 at the Frederick Book Arts Center—timed with the paperback release. The event will offer local readers insight into the authors' works. Frederick News-Post
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Frederick County Public Schools will start the 2025-2026 school year on Wednesday, August 20th and the Student Homelessness Initiative Partnership will help students facing homelessness. The group will work with these students to keep them in school—addressing challenges like unreliable transportation and unstable housing to help them succeed. WFMD
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Maryland Gov. Wes Moore announced a new clean energy grant program that will provide millions for facility upgrades and clean energy projects to Frederick County and other local governments. The program aims to help local governments improve their facilities and energy systems in the coming months. Frederick News-Post
- ➤ City Council candidate Peter Brehm said on a podcast with The Frederick News-Post he is willing to revisit a charter amendment that would let non-citizens vote in city elections — his comments come as the local primary nears. Frederick News-Post
