CRIME NEWS

  • Brandon Clint Russell, a convicted neo-Nazi terrorist from Orlando who founded Atomwaffen and led a plot from November 2022 until February 3rd to attack Baltimore’s power grid and other substations in Maryland, was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison and lifetime supervised release—authorities say his plan could have caused over $75 million in damages.  Daily Voice
  • US Marshals Service and local agencies conducted an operation on Thursday in Frederick that recovered a missing 16-year-old girl and detained 27-year-old Denis Misael Dominguez Reyes— a citizen of El Salvador and alleged gang member sought after a removal order— as the teen was turned over to local authorities for care while Reyes remains in ICE custody.  WFMD

  • On Aug. 7, the Weinberg Center for the Arts and New Spire Arts announced their season lineups for 2025 to 2026 featuring live music, comedy, dance, film and more. The new season (set to bring different shows to local audiences) will offer fresh entertainment for art fans.  Frederick News-Post

  • Maryland’s annual Shop Maryland Tax‑Free Week will run from Sunday, Aug. 10th through Saturday, Aug. 16th and will waive the 6% sales tax on qualifying clothing and footwear priced at $100 or less plus up to $40 off backpacks or bookbags — with online purchases included — to boost savings during the back‑to‑school season.  Daily Voice
