ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Residents have another chance to review and comment on a plan to build a five-megawatt solar facility outside Woodsboro—officials hope this input will guide future steps for the project.  Frederick News-Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials announced that the filming of 'Boomtown: The Story of Downtown Frederick, Part Two' will take place tomorrow from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 203 North Market Street — the event may lead to parking restrictions and traffic delays on nearby streets.  WFMD
  • Frederick County launched an online resource hub on its government website to help residents and businesses find food, healthcare and financial assistance during the federal shutdown—County Executive Jessica Fitzwater said the list will be updated regularly with new details.  WFMD
  • The Maryland Public Service Commission will hold a public hearing Tuesday, October 14 to review the proposed five-megawatt solar facility by Clyde Young Road Solar at the Rocky Ridge Volunteer Fire Company on Motters Station Road in Woodsboro—citizens may submit written comments until November 7 and hear presentations from the applicant and other parties. This second hearing of the year follows the initial meeting held in June.  WFMD
  • Frederick is using over 400K dollars raised from rental licenses — funds that will support rental assistance and home repairs for local residents.  Frederick News-Post
  • Frederick County Solid Waste officials will hold a fall Household Hazardous Waste Drop Off event at Keys Stadium on Saturday, October 11th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.—residents must bring county ID and dispose of items like batteries and pesticides—officials will manage traffic to keep lines moving.  WFMD
