- ➤ Frederick County’s Green Homes Program received the 2025 Climate and Energy Leadership Award from the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments for cutting greenhouse gas emissions and boosting energy efficiency — a sign of its strong commitment to sustainable living. The program helped over 760 households with upgrades and rebates, reduced 15,000 tons of CO₂ emissions, and saved 40 million gallons of water last year — showing its clear impact on community resiliency.
