- ➤ Walmart announced the return of its annual Thanksgiving Meal Basket on Oct 21 and it includes over 20 items such as a Butterball turkey at 97 cents per pound—its lowest since 2019—that feeds 10 people for under $40. The basket is available online and in stores with free express delivery for new Pickup & Delivery customers and will run through Christmas Day. Daily Voice

- ➤ Frederick County’s Sustainability Commission and Division of Energy and Environment honored award winners at the Green Homes Program Recognition Event on October 20—recognizing local businesses, nonprofits, and individuals for their innovative efforts in conservation and environmental education. - ➤ Frederick County will host a meeting on broadband expansion on October 28 at 6:00 p.m. at the Urbana Regional Library, where representatives from Shentel will discuss service availability, costs, timelines and construction plans for Glo Fiber in Ballenger Creek and The Meadow at New Market. - ➤ Frederick County Traffic and Permits Section announced that the Linganore Road closure has been moved near the Plantation Road intersection and will begin Monday, October 27th, lasting about five weeks weather permitting. Detour signs will be posted along Maryland Route 144, Old National Pike, Boyers Mill Road, Gas House Pike, and Monocacy Boulevard — guiding drivers during the road realignment for the Westridge subdivision development. - ➤ A man who dropped off a raccoon at CARE Veterinary Center last week is receiving treatment to prevent rabies as the animal tested positive near Thurmont, the Frederick County Health Department said. Officials warn anyone who sees an animal acting strangely to call local animal control—this follows a rise in rabies cases among local wildlife. WFMD
