- ➤ The school board's Policy Committee proposed to stop forcing students to use preferred names and pronouns — a change that leaves other accommodations intact after months of discussion. Frederick News-Post
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Frederick County’s Sustainability Commission and Division of Energy and Environment recognized eight businesses—organizations or individuals—for advancing the county’s sustainability goals. Frederick News-Post
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Frederick County Public Schools now require a government-issued ID and proof of county connection for those speaking at board meetings—only students, staff, parents, residents, business owners and property owners are allowed. Frederick News-Post
- ➤ The county council voted unanimously on Tuesday to support a local nuclear research company with $35,000 from the economic opportunity fund — a decision that shows its commitment to advancing local innovation. Frederick News-Post
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Between July 1st and September 30th, 2025, Frederick County Health Department and the Liquor Board conducted compliance checks on local stores selling alcohol and tobacco to protect youth (12 of 51 alcohol sellers and 2 of 20 tobacco sellers did not comply). Officials say the Merchant Sales Compliance Initiative (aimed at reducing youth access) will help keep young people safe. WFMD
