BUSINESS NEWS

  • Gov. Wes Moore announced that Bakery de France is expanding its Frederick site at 8400 Bakery Way by building a 176,000-square-foot facility — a project that will create 125 full-time jobs by 2028 — in partnership with Belgium-based La Lorraine Bakery Group. The expansion also received a $700,000 conditional loan along with local support from Frederick County and the City.  Daily Voice

CULTURE NEWS

  • Maryland Public Television’s Emmy Award-winning Outdoors Maryland returns for its 37th season on Tuesday, Nov. 11, showcasing local outdoor adventures. The season will feature episodes on stargazing at local sites and on a high school race involving a pedal-powered submarine — produced in cooperation with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.  Daily Voice

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A 1995 Middletown High graduate and former special education teacher from West Virginia is running for the Frederick County school board+ he aims to secure increased special education funding in the district.  Frederick News-Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Maryland Farm Bureau urged the Public Service Commission to dismiss Public Service Enterprise Group’s application to build the Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project because a 67-mile (500 kilovolt) power line cannot be finished by June in 2027. Local governments and groups from Baltimore, Carroll, and Frederick counties also oppose the project to protect agri-tourism and save resources, and PSEG will respond by November 14th (per schedules).  WFMD

HEALTH NEWS

  • On October 25, 184 Frederick County residents dropped off over 330 pounds of unwanted medications and more than 9,000 needles at two designated sites (organized by the Health Department) during a drug take back day. Officials thanked law enforcement (Frederick Police Department, Maryland State Police and the DEA) for their support in keeping the community safe.  WFMD

  • Jake Paul blasted Maryland native Gervonta Davis on Twitter, calling him 'an actual walking human piece of garbage' after the Netflix fight scheduled for Nov. 14 in Miami was canceled amid legal claims against Davis—his team still plans a primetime Netflix event in 2025 with details pending.  Daily Voice
