COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Veteran Services Center at Goodwill in Frederick celebrated its third anniversary with an open house Wednesday—community members learned about the services and resources available.  Frederick News-Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Wednesday, the school board voted unanimously not to redistrict students at Blue Heron Elementary or Oakdale Middle+ the decision means students will remain at their current schools+ and no further changes are planned.  Frederick News-Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Frederick opened a new public restroom facility along Carroll Creek Linear Park to improve convenience for park users—local officials say the facility meets modern standards. It is now available for residents and visitors to use.  City of Frederick
  • Eligible nonprofit organizations in Frederick County are invited to apply for the FY27 Community Partnership Grant Program between December 2 and January 20, 2026 — an in-person information session is scheduled on December 2 at 1:30 p.m. at Winchester Hall.  Frederick County

HEALTH NEWS

  • The FDA recalled the Chef Brand Milk Pan 24 cm — sold in MD and five other states — after tests found lead levels that may harm health, especially in children. Consumers are urged to stop using the pan and return it for a full refund.  Daily Voice

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • AAA said that nearly 1.5 million Marylanders will travel for Thanksgiving weekend with 1.37 million driving, 104,000 flying, and 29,000 taking other transportation—Maryland's gas prices are also trending upward at $3.09 per gallon. Ragina Ali advised drivers to check their vehicles and plan to depart early in the morning or late at night to avoid heavy traffic on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday.  WFMD
