  • Frederick’s FEED Grant Program is open for non-profits that help provide food to those in need and is backed by the county and Community Foundation using $1 million from County Council; eligible groups must apply by December 21 to fund food service expansion and equipment purchases — a second round will open early next year.  WFMD

  • Celebrate Frederick’s annual Holidays in Historic Frederick event series offers all-ages activities throughout December—featuring a regionally renowned Candlelight House Tour and an old-world European Kris Kringle Procession in downtown Frederick.  Frederick News-Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Brunswick Elementary has added stained-glass windows that show bubbles to its media center entrance to honor a longstanding tradition—this new addition marks a celebration of the school's heritage.  Frederick News-Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Maryland Department of the Environment will hold a public meeting in Adamstown on Monday to gather public comment on a draft permit that would allow the installation of 99 emergency diesel generators at the Quantum Frederick campus — local residents can voice their concerns.  Frederick News-Post
  • Frederick County will use part of the tax revenue from property transfers to keep transit rides fare-free — the plan aims to support affordable local transit for residents.  Frederick News-Post

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Several national chains will offer free cookies and special deals for National Cookie Day tomorrow, Dec. 4—these offers include $1 cookies at some bakeries and bonus points on drinks at others.
