Fall color west of Frederick is past peak, but pockets of it are still out there
The Daily Frederick team
If you've been saving a leaf drive for later, the show is winding down close to home. The Department of Natural Resources says fall foliage in areas west of Frederick has passed its peak, while Baltimore and Annapolis are hitting highs this week "with bold maples and ochre oaks."
In Washington County, forester Aaron Cook says many leaves have started to fall and bare trees are showing up in many places, though "there are still pockets of color to be found." The showers this week should bring down more leaves.
